Yeah yeah yeah they look like fairies. These are some concepts i worked up for my surrealism project. I took a LOT of pictures of my arms and cut them out of photos in PS to make this. The figure i got by taking a screencapture of a pose from http://www.posemaniacs.com and then making it into a silohuette. Lots of photomanipulation and color editing later, i got these three ideas. Now to make an actual background and pick one for the final piece.
I love your idea of repeatedly placing arms by the silhouette to simulate wings! The illumination of the silohuette softens and warms the image quite nicely.
